1997/98 SEASON
Our 1997/98 Season was our final one in our very intimate
basement theatre space. We loved it, but our local fire
dept’ felt otherwise and forced us to move to our current
space upstairs. We did two shows:
RUTHLESS the musical by Joel Paley and Melvin Laird
SOCIAL SECURITY by Andrew Bergman
RUTHLESS the musical
Off Broadway's homage to the "Theatre Genre". It is a
wonderfully woven tapestry that parodies Broadway Classics
such as Gypsy, Chorus Line, Mame, and Applause underscored
with subplots from classic films such as The Bad Seed,
Valley of the Dolls and Sunset Boulevard. The result is a
wild evening of theatrical hilarity.
Central Mass Repertory hits with rollicking 'Ruthless'
...this show is one you will enjoy and remember for a long
time...Ruthe Lew is the perfect housewife, mother of the
perfect child dressed in the perfect pink dress. Lew's
performance is also perfect...Jenna Parkinson is Judy's
perfect child. Only 13, Parkinson displays the ability of
someone who is much more mature...Barry Lew, plays Sylvia to
the hilt... Pamela Hill's facial expressions and proficiency
at accentuating just the right word are outstanding...Cheryl
Carter...perfectly cast ...steals the show with her
rendition of "I Hate Musicals"...Another talented singer
Sherryn Smith plays Eve quite well...Kira Lew...her first
role at CMRT...displayed control and confidence...Central
Mass Repertory has chosen the ideal show for their theater
and has assembled the ideal cast. don't let the unfamiliar
title inhibit your decision to attend "Ruthless". Sylvia
